The Royal Albert Hall in Lopndon today announced that it is facing heavy financial problems. On its website the hall says: « The Hall requires urgent public support to generate more than £20m to weather the COVID-19 storm and fulfil purpose of promoting arts and sciences for future generations. Despite Government references to the Royal Albert Hall as a “crown jewel” that must be saved, it cannot apply for any emergency grants within the £1.57bn arts and heritage sector rescue package. French soprano Christiane Eda-Pierre died on 5 Septeber at the age of 88. She was born in Fort-de-France, Martinique and studied in Paris notably with Charles Panzéra. In 1957 she made her debut in Nice, as Leïla in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles. Some years later she sang in Paris at the Opéra Comique and at the National Opera. Read More →
