Bei der Vorstellung moderner bis modernster Musik in Luxemburg reicht üblicherweise der kleinste Publikumsraum der Philharmonie, Espace Découverte, aus, um das meist handverlesene Publikum zu beherbergen. Das war auch mit dem aktuellen Projekt ‘Generations’ nicht anders. Allerdings darf man sagen, dass es diesmal sehr knapp war. Trotz einiger zugestellter Bänke musste das Publikum zusammenrücken, um allen Interessierten Platz zu bieten. Jonas Kaufmann hat mitgeteilt, er sei wegen eines ‘Missgeschicks’ gezwungen, eine kleine Pause einzulegen: « Vor ein paar Tagen hatte ich mich beim Essen verschluckt, und konnte nur mit heftigem Husten reagieren. Leider war dies nicht gut für meine Stimme. » Deshalb hat der Sänger drei Tosca-Vorstellugen an der Pariser Oper abgesagt. Infolgedessen wird die Rolle des Cavaradossi am 16. Mai 2019 von Vittorio Grigolo und am 19. und 22. Mai 2019 von Marcelo Puente gesungen.

Krzysztof Urbański

Krzysztof Urbanski, the Music Director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, will not renew his contract after the 2020-21 season, the orchestra announced. The 36-year-old Polish conductor is in this position since 2011. In 2015 Urbanski became Principal Guest Conductor of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra.

The Jury of the International Classical Music Awards ICMA has noted that performing artists, ensembles and orchestras encounter more and more difficulties in getting visas. The Jury, comprising media from 15 countries, condemns severely the increasing problems with visas for performing artists and the unacceptable surge of labyrinthine and totally arbitrary bureaucracy leading to a worsening of artistic conditions for the artists as well as for the promotors of classical music.
