David Robertson
David Robertson, 58, will leave his post as music director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra after the 2018-19 symphony season. According to the St. Louis Post, Robertson has agreed to not more than a one-year extension of his contract, taking his tenure into 2019.
A Trump Inauguration Manager said on CNBC that would-be tenor Andrea Bocelli was never asked to sing at the feast. The denial came after Bocelli apparently refused to sing at this show due to pressure from fans.
Dmitri Hvorostovsky who performed in concerts in St. Petersburg and Moscow earlier this month, has postponed a performance in Krasnoyarsk on 22 December because of illness. Weakened by his treatment of a brain tumour, the singer caught a bad cold and is currently hospitalized in one of clinics of St. Petersburg with pneumonia.
Fawzi Haimor
Die Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen hat den 33-jährigen Amerikaner mit arabischen Wurzeln Fawzi Haimor als Nachfolger von Ola Rudner engagiert. Der Vertrag läuft vorerst über vier Jahre. Haimor arbeitete zunächst als Dirigent beim ‘Alabama Symphony Orchestra’. Er war auch ‘Resident Conductor’ des Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’.

Der Italiener Riccardo Minasi (*1978) wird Nachfolger von Ivor Bolton beim Mozarteumorchester in Salzburg. Er war angeblich der Wunschkandidat des Orchesters. Als Geiger und Dirigent kommt er aus dem Bereich der Barockmusik.
Philippe Jordan

Der Schweizer Dirigent Philippe Jordan, 42, bleibt zumindest bis 2021 Chefdirigent der Wiener Symphoniker. Er hat seinen ursprünglich bis 2019 laufenden Vertrag entsprechend verlängert. Jordan ist seit 2009 und noch bis mindestens 2018 Chefdirigent der Nationaloper in Paris.
In 2017, to mark the 90th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of the death of Russian cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich the Square at the intersection of Eliseevskiy and Bryusov roads in central Moscow will be named after him. There is already a statue of the musician right at this square. It was inaugurated in 2012.

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra has announced major changes in its Board, with several Board Members resigning for unrevealed reasons. Richard Phillips, chair of the board has been replaced by Catherine Beck. Four of the other five members of the board’s executive committee have also left. This is a major reorganisation for an orchestra that is in a financial turmoil and is seeking both a new permanent CEO and a new music director.
Die Sopranistin Lotte Rysanek, die jüngere Schwester von Leonie Rysanek (+1998), ist am 14. Dezember im Alter von 92 Jahren gestorben. Die gebürtige Wienerin hatte 1950 in Klagenfurt debütiert. An der Wiener Staatsoper hat sie von 1955 bis 1987 939 Vorstellungen in rund vier Dutzend Partien gesungen.
