The contract of Stéphane Lissner, General Manager of the National Opera in Paris, will not be renewed at the end of his term in 2021, since he will have exceeded the age limit (67) for a public position. He is in this position since 2014 and will be 68 years old in July 2021.
According to French media, the Ministry of Culture has asked a cabinet of head-hunters to set up a list of candidates for the job.
Various editors also speculated about possible other reasons than the age limit. Lissner often was attacked by Forum Opéra’s editor in chief Sylvain Fort who happens to be now in charge of President Emmanuel Macron’s Communication Department.
