British conductor Paul Daniel, 63, artistic director of the Real Filharmonía de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela has decided to leave the orchestra at the end of the current contract, in December 2022, our colleagues from Scherzo reported.
Daniel is at the helm of this organization since 2013. From 2013 – 2021 he was Music Director of the Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine and held the same post at the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Perth from 2009-2013. From 1997 to 2005 he was Music Director of English National Opera; from 1990 to 1997 he was Music Director of Opera North and Principal Conductor of the English Northern Philharmonia; and from 1987 to 1990 he was Music Director of Opera Factory.
