The National Opera in Paris has removed some fixed separations at the central balcony boxes of the old opera house, Palais Garnier. This transformation has been done in order to get more seats. This transformation has apparently been done without any authorization from the Ministry. However, Palais Garnier is listed as historic monument and any transformation needs an authorization. Now, opponents to the transformations say that the original aspect of the theatre has been changed and they launched a petition asking the management to stop this ‘hideous project’.
