Philippe Jordan

Philippe Jordan has been announced as new Chief Conductor of Orchestre National de France. The 50-year-old Swiss is due to take up his post in September 2027, succeeding Cristian Macelaru, who is leaving for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra after seven seasons at the helm of the ONF.

The Swiss conductor was Music Director of the Paris Opera between 2009 and 2021 and is currenty Music Director of the Vienna State Opera. His contract, running from 2020 will not be renewed in 2025. In Vienna, Philippe Jordan was chief conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra between 2014 and 2021.
