The crash of Fuerza-Aérea-Uruguaya-Flight 571, 1972 in the Andes, has already been turned into a movie, and now Vancouver composer Lloyd Burritt made an opera about. Miracle Flight 571 will be created in a reduced version this weekend in Vancouver ahead of a world premiere staging next year at the University of Toronto. It is adapted from the memoir Miracle in the Andes: 72 Days on the Mountain and My Long Trek Home written by Parrado (with Vince Rause).
