Die 1985 geborene italienisch-niederländische Pianistin Saskia Giorgini ist als Poetin am Klavier bekannt, und das Programm, das sie für dieses Pentatone-Album zusammengestellt hat, passt bestens zu ihr.
Alle Stücke, ob langsam oder schnell, spielt sie mit schönem Ton, feiner Phrasierung und Schattierung. Auch wenn das ganze Album eine gewisse dynamische Zurückhaltung an den Tag legt, lohnt es sich, genau hinzuhören. Giorginis singender Ton gibt den Werken einen feinen impressionistischen, ja einen femininen Charakter, und distanziert sich so von Pianisten, die Debussy mit einen strengeren Rhythmus und einer schärferen Artikulation spielen. Giorgini geht es um feine Nuancen, um die Mischung von erlesenen Klangfarben, um so Debussys Entdeckungen der harmonischen Chemie und die unterschiedlichen Klangperspektiven hörbar werden zu lassen.
Born in 1985, the Italian-Dutch pianist Saskia Giorgini is known as a poet at the piano, and the program she has put together for this Pentatone album suits her perfectly.
She plays all the pieces, whether slow or fast, with a beautiful tone, fine phrasing and shading. Even if the whole album displays a certain dynamic restraint, it is worth listening carefully. Giorgini’s singing tone gives the works a fine impressionistic, even feminine character, thus distancing herself from pianists who play Debussy with a stricter rhythm and sharper articulation. Giorgini plays with subtle nuances and a mixture of exquisite tone colors, in order to make Debussy’s discoveries of harmonic chemistry and the different sound perspectives audible.
