Dieses Album der amerikanischen Sopranistin Christine Moore Vassallo mit spanischen, arabischen und ladinischen Liedern wurde zu diesem Album durch das Interesse der Sängerin an der Verbindung von arabischen, nahöstlichen und nordafrikanischen Musikregionen mit der spanischen Musik sowie durch ihren eigenen nahöstlichen arabischen Hintergrund inspiriert.
Es ist zeitlich lange und musikalisch abwechslungsreiche Reise, die vom 15. Jahrhundert bis ins 20. Jahrhundert reicht. Die meisten Lieder sind recht poetisch und ruhig, um nicht zu sagen kontemplativ. Viel Temperament braucht Christine Moore-Vasallo also nicht mitzubringen, und ihre soft-warme Stimme passt sehr gut zu diesen Liedern.
This album of Spanish, Arabic and Ladino songs by American soprano Christine Moore Vassallo was inspired by the singer’s interest in combining Arabic, Middle Eastern and North African musical regions with Spanish music, as well as by her own Middle Eastern Arabic background.
It is a long and musically varied journey in terms of time, ranging from the 15th century to the 20th century. Most of the songs are quite poetic and quiet, not to say contemplative. So Christine Moore-Vasallo doesn’t have to bring much temperament with her, and her soft, warm voice suits these songs very well.
