Performances of Puccini’s ‘La Bohème’ and Georges Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ will take place at the ancient arena of Pompeii on September 18 and 20 respectively. This is kind of a prelude for a new opera festival, whoch the Italian Ministry of Culture wants to organize in the newly reopened open-air theatre of the old Roman city. So, one can see that the Ministry has money for new projects but fails to properly support the existing opera houses.
