In der Serie Naxos British Light Music veröffentlicht Naxos Aufnahmen von 1994 mit Musik des britischen Filmkomponisten Richard Addinsell (1903-1977), der am bekanntesten wurde mit seinem Warsaw Concerto aus dem Film Dangerous Moonlight. Das Programm dieser CD umfasst mehrere Bereiche von Addinsells Schaffens und enthält das Thema aus seinem ersten internationalen Filmerfolg Goodbye Mr. Chips sowie die Ouvertüre aus Tom Brown’s Schooldays, das Konzert The Smokey Mountains, The Isle of Apples geschrieben für eine Hörspiel-Reihe und Themen aus Fire over England, 1937 gedreht mit Laurence Olivier und Vivien Leigh.
Das BBC Concert Orchestra spielt die schönen Melodien von Addinsell mit viel Liebe und so gelang eine attraktive CD. Wer sich mit leichter Musik entspannen will, wird damit vortrefflich bedient.
In the Naxos British Light Music series, Naxos releases 1994 recordings of music by British film composer Richard Addinsell (1903-1977), who became best known for his Warsaw Concerto from the film Dangerous Moonlight. This CD’s program spans several areas of Addinsell’s output and includes the theme from his first international film success Goodbye Mr. Chips as well as the overture from Tom Brown’s Schooldays, the concerto The Smokey Mountains, The Isle of Apples written for a radio drama series, and themes from Fire over England, filmed in 1937 with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh.
The BBC Concert Orchestra plays Addinsell’s beautiful melodies with much affection, making for an attractive and lovely CD. Anyone who wants to relax with light music will be excellently served.
