Czech horn player Radek Baborak, 44, has been appointed Principal Conductor of the West Bohemia Symphony Orchestra in Marianske Lazne (Západočeský symfonický orchestr Mariánské Lázně).
Baborak was born in Pardubice, Czech Republic and is 44 years old. He studied at the Prague Conservatory from 1989 to 1994, and won the Munich International Music Competition in 1994. He also became the principal player of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra that year.
He joined the Berlin Philharmonic in 2000 after working for the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2009 he has been a freelance soloist and conductor. He has been the principal guest conductor of the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra in Japan since 2018.
