Das neue Album der Philharmonix widmet sich der Volksmusik des Baltikums, die Sebastian Gürtler und Stephan Koncz auf höchst anspruchsvolle Weise zu einem neunteiligen Zyklus zusammengestellt haben. Die beiden sich von Melodien, Volksweisen und Kinderliedern des Baltikums inspirieren. Doch so richtig will das nicht mehr volkstümlich klingen, weil sich die Komponisten doch sehr dem Potenzial der Philharmonix angepasst haben.
Und am Ende fehlt mir einfach was, vor allem die Spiellust. Das ist alles technisch ungemein gut gespielt, aber doch vielleicht ein bisschen zu wenig inspiriert, zu sehr auf Finesse und Raffinement aus.
The new Philharmonix album is dedicated to the folk music of the Baltic States, which Sebastian Gürtler and Stephan Koncz have arranged in a highly sophisticated manner into a nine-part cycle. The two were inspired by melodies, folk tunes and children’s songs from the Baltic region. But it doesn’t really want to sound folk anymore, because the composers have really adapted to the potential of the Philharmonix.
And in the end I miss something, especially the joy of playing. It’s all played extremely well technically, but maybe a little too uninspired, too focused on finesse and refinement.
