For their first cello session, taking place in Brussels in May 2017, the Reine Elisabeth Competition has announced 70 candidates. There are 21 women and 49 men, of 22 different nationalities, coming from an initial list of 202. Some of the musicians are already well known, like Astrig Siranossian, Aurélien Pascal, Christopoh Heesch, Benedict Klöckner or Elia Cohen-Weissert.The country list comprises the following nationalities (double nationalities in second positon).
