American conductor Robert Spano, 57, has been announced as Principal Guest Conductor of Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, effective immediately. Spano, who is conducting a programme of Strauss and Mahler at Bass Performance Hall this weekend, will return to Fort Worth to conduct two concert weekends per year in each of the 2020/21, 2021/22, and 2022/23 seasons. His term as Principal Guest Conductor will conclude in June 2023. Spano is also Music Director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as well as of the Aspen Music Festival and School.
