Romanian conductor Camil Marinescu died today in Bucharest, according to news from Radio Romania Muzical. His death was caused by Covid-19. Born in 1964, Marinescu studied the bassoon and conducting at the National University of Music in Bucharest. His teachers were Cristian Mandeal and Pierre Dervaux. He has collaborated with important orchestras in the United States, Canada or Germany, and taught conducting at Osaka University.
He was a resident conductor at the Bucharest Opera, a permanent guest conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and from the 2012-2013 season until now he has held the position of principal conductor of the George Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest.
