Der Wiener Komponist Ferdinand Rebay (1880-1953) ignorierte die musikalische Entwicklung, und neben seiner Tätigkeit als Chordirigent und Pädagoge komponierte er rückwärtsgewandte Werke, die heute kaum bekannt sind. In seinem Werk spielte die Gitarre eine nicht unwichtige Rolle. Sie im Trio mit Flöte und Gitarre zu hören ist ein Charakteristikum dieser CD. Das zweite ist der unüberhörbare Einfluss der österreichischen Volksmusik. Rebays Musik ist romantisch-melodisch und einfallsreich und wird vom italienischen Esteso Trio mit lieblichem Touch interpretiert.
The Viennese composer Ferdinand Rebay (1880-1953) ignored musical developments, and in addition to his activities as a choral conductor and pedagogue, he composed backward-looking works that are hardly known today. In his work the guitar played a not unimportant role. To hear it in a trio with flute and guitar is one characteristic of this CD. The second is the unmistakable influence of Austrian folk music. His music is romantically melodic and imaginative. It is interpreted by the Italian Esteso Trio with a lovely touch.
