The Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and it’s designated Gürzenich-Kapellmeister and General Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada announced the appointment of Sakari Oramo, 59, to the newly created post of Artistic Partner.
The Finnish conductor will present a minimum of two subscription projects per season from September 2025 for an initial period of five seasons. His role will entail introducing new repertoire to the German ensemble’s programs and complementing the work of Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the incoming Gürzenich-Kapellmeister.
Sakari Oramo is Chief Conductor of BBC Symphony Orchestra, Conductor Laureate of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Honorary Conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra,
