The Scala Philharmonic has joined the international campaign to save the European Youth Orchestra, which the European Union does not want to fund anymore. The Milan based orchestra has written an open letter to the European Commissioner for Culture, Tibor Navracsics, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini and the president of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, who is Honorary president of EUYO, asking that the European Union Youth Orchestra remains « one of our most important ambassadors, a powerful symbol of unity. »
