Conductor Semyon Bychkov, Music Director of the Czech Philharmonic since 2018, has announced that he will not renew his contract and will end his tenure at the end of the 2027-28 season.
The 71-year-old conductor who emigrated to the United States in 1975 and has lived in Europe since the mid-1980’s previously served as the Music Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra and the Buffalo Philharmonic. In 1989, he was named Music Director of the Orchestre de Paris; in 1997, Chief Conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne; and the following year, Chief Conductor of the Dresden Semperoper.
