The Augusta Symphony Orchestra (Georgia) announced that Shizuo Z. Kuwahara who served as Music Director since 2009, but has decided to pursue opportunities to conduct the greater orchestras of the world.
The orchestra, which is entering its 62nd season and will become resident in the Miller Theater at the end of 2017 has formed a search committee to begin the process of appointing the next Music Director.
Winner of first prize in the Georg Solti International Conductors’ Competition in Germany, Shizuo Z. Kuwahara was an assistant to Christoph Eschenbach, to Seiji Ozawa and to Valery Gergiev.
