Jean Sibelius (1913)
The 12th International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition has been rescheduled for May 18–29, 2022. It was originally set to take place in Helsinki in late November and early December 2020, but due to the uncertainty about possible travel and assembly restrictions, the competition committee has decided to postpone the event.
The new dates were selected on the basis of the availability of the venues at Sibelius Academy and Helsinki Music Centre, schedules of the Finnish Radio Symphony and Helsinki Philharmonic, as well as those of the competition jury.
The 2022 edition of the competition will be open to all violinists born in or after 1990.
Postponing the 12th edition of the Sibelius Violin Competition will not affect the competition’s regular long-term schedule and the 13th edition will be held in the end of 2025.
