Sir Simon Rattle
The London Symphony Orchestra announced today the appointment of Sir Simon Rattle as its next Music Director. He will take up his appointment in September 2017, as the successor of Valery Gergiev. Rattle, who will step down in Berlin in 2018, made his first appearance with the London Symphony Orchestra in October 1977, at the age of 22.
