The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) has announced the appointment of Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu, 57, as its new Music Director from the 2026/27 season on. He will be appointed for an initial three-year term, and takes over from Maestro Hans Graf who was appointed Chief Conductor in the 2020/21 season and later Music Director in 2022/23, and who has decided to end his tenure with the 2025/26 season.
Lintu is currently Chief Conductor of the Finnish National Opera & Ballet, Music Director of the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Choir, and Artistic Director of the International Sibelius Festival (from 2025). He is Artistic Partner of Lahti Symphony Orchestra from autumn 2025. Lintu will conduct the SSO for two weeks in the 2025/26 season as guest conductor and Music Director-designate.
