At Milan’s La Scala the board meeting chaired by Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala, proposed to extend for one year the contracts of current superintendent Dominique Meyer and music director Riccardo Chailly expiring in February 2025 and in the meantime appoint as superintendent-designate Fortunato Ortombina, incoming from La Fenice, a name on which Sala and Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano had agreed, with Daniele Gatti also coming in as music director.
The proposal, which should satisfy everyone halfway, is now being analyzed by the Ministry of Culture in Rome.
