Diese CD beinhaltet die Filmmusik aus Il Boemo, einem Filmdrama des Regisseurs Petr Václav aus dem Jahr 2022, welches das Leben Josef Mysliveceks (1737–1781) zum Thema hat. Dieser wurde in Prag geboren, das er mit 26 Jahren verließ, um nach Italien zu reisen. Er wurde zu einem der produktivsten und erfolgreichsten Komponisten der Opera seria seiner Zeit.
Im Film treten einige namhafte Sängerinnen und Sänger auf, darunter der französische Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, die ungarische Sopranistin Emöke Baráth und der polnische Tenor Krystian Adam. Vom Thema her kann man dessen Soundtrack nicht als das anzusehen, was man gemeinhin darunter versteht, sondern es ist eben eine lose Folge der Musik Mysliveceks, eine Ouvertüre und Arien bzw. Szenen, die im Film zu hören sind. Im digitalen Album gibt es zusätzlich die Ouvertüre zu Il Bellerofonte und weitere Arien, die auf der CD nicht enthalten sind.
Philippe Jaroussky, Emöke Barath und Sophie Harmsen überzeugen dabei mit besonders feinfühligen Charakterisierungen. Auch Simona Saturova kann mit ihrem luxuriösen Sopran gefallen. Unter den übrigen Sängern ist keiner, der enttäuschen würde.
Václav Luks dirigiert sein Ensemble Collegium 1704 mit straffer Hand.
Dies gibt das Tempo und den Ton für kraftvoll pulsierende, lebendige Interpretationen vor, die in Mysliveceks melodischen Erfindung schwelgt und auch die lyrischen Momente voll auskosten.
This CD contains the score from Il Boemo, a 2022 film drama by director Petr Václav, which is about the life of Josef Myslivecek (1737-1781). The latter was born in Prague, which he left at the age of 26 to travel to Italy. He became one of the most prolific and successful composers of opera seria of his time.
The film features several notable singers, including French countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, Hungarian soprano Emöke Baráth, and Polish tenor Krystian Adam. In terms of subject matter, its soundtrack cannot be considered what it is commonly understood to be; rather, it is just a loose sequence of Myslivecek’s music, an overture and arias or scenes that are heard in the film. The digital album also features the overture to Il Bellerofonte and other arias not included on the CD.
Philippe Jaroussky, Emöke Barath and Sophie Harmsen are convincing here with particularly sensitive characterizations. Simona Saturova can also please with her luxurious soprano. Among the other singers there is not one who disappoints.
Václav Luks conducts his Collegium 1704 ensemble with a firm hand.
This sets the tempo and tone for powerfully pulsating, lively interpretations that revel in Myslivecek’s melodic invention and also fully savor the lyrical moments.
