The Spanish baritone Enric Serra passed away last January 22 in his hometown Barcelona at the age of 83. He won First prize in the Spanish Radio Competition in 1969 and has since sung at the Teatro del Liceu in his native city. He has appeared in all the major opera houses of Spain in the great roles of the Italian repertoire and was also a welcome guest in the world’s major opera houses.
His definitive retirement took place again at the Liceu, in an Andrea Chénier in 2007, although in 2014 he still participated in a tribute to Josep Pons at the Liceu.
He was also a singing teacher, privately and at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu.
