Nach der Aufnahme von Tchaikovskys Fünfter und Rachmaninovs Erstem Klavierkonzert stehen auf dieser neuen CD von Dan Ettinger Tchaikovskys Vierte und Rachmaninovs Zweites Klavierkonzert auf dem Programm, letzteres nicht (wie das Erste) mit Fabio Martino, sondern mit dem georgischen Pianisten Alexander Korsantia.
Diese Aufnahme gefällt mir sehr gut. Sie ist lebendig, spontan, aber auch lyrisch und gut geatmet, ohne, dass die Musik je schwer werden würde, ganz im Gegenteil. Es gibt auch viel Elan, manchmal äußert das sich in einem direkt enthusiastischen und verspielt-virtuosen Musizieren. Dieses Konzert hat mich schon lange nicht mehr so begeistert wie in der vorliegenden Einspielung.
Tchaikovskys Vierte hingegen fehlt es etwas an Atem, die Tempi sind etwas schnell und das Ganze tendiert ins Brillant-Effektvolle, nicht zuletzt wegen eines sehr speziellen Rubatos. Dennoch: auch diese Interpretation hat ein gutes musikalisches Niveau.
After the recording of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth and Rachmaninov’s First Piano Concerto, this new CD by Dan Ettinger features Tchaikovsky’s Fourth and Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto, the latter not (like the First) with Fabio Martino, but with Georgian pianist Alexander Korsantia.
I like this recording very much. It is lively, spontaneous, but also lyrical and well-breathed, without the music ever becoming heavy, quite the contrary. There is also a lot of verve, sometimes expressing itself in directly enthusiastic and playful virtuoso music-making. It has been a long time since this concerto has thrilled me as much as it does in this recording.
Tchaikovsky’s Fourth, on the other hand, lacks a bit of breath, the tempi are a bit fast and the interpretation tends towards the brilliantly effective, not least because of a very special Rubato. Nevertheless, the performance has a good musical level.
