Der italienische Pianist Luca Delle Donne zeigt mustergültig, wie man Schumanns Carnaval spielen soll, mit einer inspirierten Mischung aus Virtuosität, Ruhe und immer wieder auch Humor und torkelnde Beschwipstheit. Dabei bleibt dieser Schumann auch kantabel und in seinem ganzen Reichtum wirklich ansprechend.
Von Schumanns ‘Concert sans orchestre’ erklingt die dreisätzige Fassung von 1836. Luca delle Donne spielt die Musik detailreich und differenzierend. Das mag hin und wieder auf Kosten des virtuosen Effekts gehen, bringt aber im Gegenzug so viel mehr zu Gehör, dass das Ohr vollauf beschäftigt ist, sich damit auseinander zu setzen.

Luca delle Donne plays the three-movement version from 1836 of Schumann’s ‘Concert sans orchestre’, and his performance is rich in detail and differentiation. This may occasionally be at the expense of virtuoso effect, but in return brings so much more to the ear that the listener is fully occupied to deal with it.
