Metropolitan Opera New York
The announcement of James Levine’s retirement from his job as music director at the Metropolitan Opera in New York is giving rise to speculation. Two names are mentioned in various American newspapers: Yannick Nézet-Séguin, currently music director of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Gianandrea Noseda. Apparently the Italian is a favourite candidate of many Met musicians. Noseda was recently named music director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington.
