So hatte man sich das von Andrea Battistoni erwartet: ein spektakulärer, klanglich herausragender, hoch dynamischer und intensiv dramatischer Sacre du Printemps, den man sich in den erregten Passagen nicht fieberhafter vorstellen kann. Aber auch die kontemplativeren Stellen sind intensiv und von bemerkenswerter Klangfülle. Battistoni sucht nicht noch Hintergründen, sondern fokussiert primär das Klangliche und das tut er so effektvoll, dass man sich diesem Klangbad bedingungslos hingibt, nicht zuletzt wegen des großartigen Spiels des Tokyo Philharmonic, das sich als Spitzenorchester vorstellt. Übrigens serviert uns dieses Orchester so manche Klangkombination, die ganz besonders apart klingt. Und das allein ist auch schon ein Plus.
In den Symphonischen Tänzen aus West Side Story gibt es nicht so viel fiebrige Erregung, aber dafür einen differenzierten Erzählstil, der die Handlung respektiert. Und einmal mehr überzeugt die Aufnahme durch das technisch hervorragende Spiel des Tokyo Philharmonic.
Beide Tonaufnahmen sind ebenfalls hervorragend, angenehm räumlich und transparent.
This is what one had expected from Andrea Battistoni: a spectacular, musically outstanding, highly dynamic and intensely dramatic Sacre du Printemps, which one could not imagine more feverish in the excited passages. But even the more contemplative passages are intense and of remarkable sonority. Battistoni does not look for backgrounds, but focuses primarily on the sound and he does this so effectively that one surrenders to this sound bath unconditionally, not least because of the great playing of the Tokyo Philharmonic, which presents itself as a top orchestra. By the way, this orchestra serves us many a sound combination that sounds particularly distinctive. And that alone is a plus.
In the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story there is not so much feverish excitement, but instead a differentiated narrative style that respects the plot. And once again, the recording impresses with the technically superb playing of the Tokyo Philharmonic.
Both sound recordings are also excellent, pleasantly spacious and transparent.
