The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra has published its annual report with very positive figures. Ticket revenue increased by 5.5 percent over the previous year and total operating revenue augmented to $30.9 million from $30.29 million in 2017. More than 255,000 people attended the concerts at Powell Hall. Also, more than 8,000 attended performances in California and Nebraska this year. The Orchestra sold out 20 of the more than 300 concerts during the season.
In addition, the organization’s expenses totalled $30.4 million resulting in an operating surplus of $490,000, up from $18,000 in 2017.
At the end of the 2017-18 season David Robertson stepped down as Music Director. Following the 2018-19 season as music director designate, Stéphane Denève starts in the position of music director of the SLSO for the 2019-20 season.
