Baldassare Galuppi (1706 – 1785) hat über 100 Sonaten komponiert. Der italienische Pianist Michele Fontana hat sich vorgenommen, alle diese Sonaten aufzunehmen. Mit den beiden ersten CDs kann er den Hörer sowohl von der Qualität dieser Musik als auch von seinem fein nuancierten und eleganten Spiel überzeugen. Er stellt Galuppi als sehr phantasiereichen Komponisten vor. Ohne Affektiertheit, überlegt und im Vollbesetz seiner gestalterischen Mittel folgt er dem Fluss der Musik. Er macht das mit einem federleichten Ton, nutzt also das Klangvolumen seines Klaviers nicht voll aus, sondern besticht vor allem durch die Intimität und die Poesie seines sensiblen, geschmeidigen und extrem klaren Spiels, das voller feiner Nuancen ist.
Baldassare Galuppi (1706 – 1785) composed over 100 sonatas. Italian pianist Michele Fontana has set out to record all of these sonatas. With the first two CDs, he is able to convince the listener both of the quality of this music and of his finely nuanced and elegant playing. He presents Galuppi as a very imaginative composer. Without affectation, deliberate and in full use of his creative resources, he follows the flow of the music. He does this with a feather-light tone, thus not making full use of the sound volume of his piano, but impressing above all with the intimacy and poetry of his sensitive, supple and extremely clear playing, full of fine nuances.
