Andrea Micucci und Francesco Di Marco beginnen bei Da Vinci eine Gesamtaufnahme der Werke für Klavier vierhändig des Norwegers Edward Grieg. Ihre Interpretationen sind sehr lebendig und farbig, und inspiriert genug, um das Virtuose nie bloß effektvoll und das Ruhige und Melancholische nie sentimental, dafür aber umso anmutiger werden zu lassen. Das eloquente Spiel an sich ist also durchaus vielversprechend für diese Gesamtaufnahme, deren Klang allerdings nicht ganz zufrieden stellt. Dem Yamaha-Flügel fehlt es an klanglicher Ausgewogenheit, an Kraft in der Tiefe und an Finesse in der manchmal etwa klirrenden Höhe. Die Mitte hat nicht wirklich viel Korpus und klingt matt. Auch die Räumlichkeit der Tonaufnahme lässt zu wünschen übrig. Sie klingt etwas distanziert und allzu mittig.
Andrea Micucci and Francesco Di Marco begin a complete recording of the works for piano four hands by Norwegian Edward Grieg on Da Vinci. Their interpretations are very lively and colorful, and inspired enough to make the virtuosic never merely gimmicky and the quiet and melancholy never sentimental, but all the more graceful. So, the eloquent playing itself is quite promising for this complete recording, though its sound is not entirely satisfying. The Yamaha grand lacks tonal balance, power in the low end, and finesse in the sometimes jangly high register. The middle doesn’t really have much body and sounds dull. The sound recording’s spaciousness also leaves something to be desired. It sounds somewhat distant and overly centered.
