The Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the appointment of 51-year-old Frenchman Stéphane Denève as its Principal Guest Conductor from September 2023.
Denève will add his new appointment to his roles as Music Director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of the New World Symphony,
Stéphane Denève succeeds James Gaffigan in the role of Principal Guest Conductor, and will carry out his appointment from September 2023 alongside Karina Canellakis, Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, and Benjamin Goodson, Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir.
Denève recently concluded terms as Principal Guest Conductor of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Chief Conductor of the Brussels Philharmonic, and previously served as Chief Conductor of Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR) and Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
