Sunday, 18 June, Sir Jeffrey Tate was scheduled to conduct his last concert with his Symphoniker Hamburg before the summer break. The orchestra announces this concert now as a farewell concert for the deceased chief conductor. The concert will be conducted by Ion Marin, Principal Guest conductor of Symphoniker Hamburg.
The Orchestra published a vibrant homage to Tate: « The unique and extraordinary voice of Jeffrey Tate has been silenced, but it will live on in the hearts, thoughts, and memories of countless admirers and friends throughout the world. Everyone associated with the Symphoniker Hamburg is deeply shocked by the sudden death of our beloved and respected Principal Conductor. His music made the world a better place, and we are endlessly grateful for the hours, days, and years we were able to share with him. Sir Jeffrey influenced our orchestra like no one else. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his husband Klaus Kuhlemann and to the family. May his soul be embraced by the vastness of eternal life. »
