Das Duo Jiang-Giovannini beginnt sein Programm mit einer von Respighi selber erstellten Transkription der vier Tondichtungen Fontane di Roma für Klavier zu 4 Händen. Sie findet in den beiden Pianisten exzellente Sachverwalter, welche die musikalische Substanz gut umsetzen und neue Eindrücke vermitteln.
Auch Rimsky-Korsakov hat seine Scheherazade für Klavier vierhändig umgeschrieben. Jiang und Giovannini begegnen dieser Partitur mit viel Esprit und können so das Orchester durch eine faszinierende Klangrecherche und einen phantasievollen Erzählstil mehr als nur ersetzen. Im letzten Satz ist ihr Spiel hinreißend virtuos.
Auch von Ravels Rapsodie Espagnole gibt es eine Originaltranskription des Komponisten, die hier in einer sehr poetischen und stimmungsvollen Interpretation erklingt, die durch den stupenden Klangreichtum der beiden Pianisten absolut hinreißend wird.
The Jiang-Giovannini duo begin their program with Respighi’s own transcription of the four tone poems Fontane di Roma for piano 4 hands. The two pianists are excellent interpreters, who translate the musical substance well and convey new impressions.
Rimsky-Korsakov also rewrote his Scheherazade for piano four hands. Jiang and Giovannini approach this score with great esprit and are thus able to more than replace the orchestra with a fascinating sound research and an imaginative narrative style. In the last movement, their playing is ravishingly virtuosic.
There is also an original transcription of Ravel’s Rapsodie Espagnole, which is performed here in a very poetic and atmospheric interpretation, made absolutely enchanting by the two pianists’ stupendous richness of sound.
