The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in Hobart, Australia, has announced the appointment of Norwegian conductor Eivind Aadland, 61, as its new Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, with a three-year engagement commencing in 2020.
Aadland succeeds Marko Letonja, whose seven year tenure concludes at the end of 2018. A regular guest conductor of the TSO since 2005, Aadland was Chief Conductor and Artistic Leader of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra for seven seasons from 2004 and Principal Guest Conductor of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra from 2011-2013.
