Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon has terminated the contract of its Dutch artistic director Ivan van Kalmthout who was in this position since July 1, 2023. His mandate was to end on June 30, 2027.
The official statement says: « The Board of Directors of OPArt informs that the service commission of Ivan van Kalmthout as artistic director of the TNSC is terminated today by agreement. (…) The artistic activity of the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, namely the preparation and presentation of the 2024-2025 season, will continue with the utmost serenity, fulfilling its public service obligations. »
