Sebastian Schwartz, German, artistic director of the Vienna Chamber Opera until 2016, will be the new superintendent of the Teatro Regio in Turin. He was chosen by the board of directors for the succession to William Graziosi. It is now up to the Minister of Culture, Alberto Bonisoli, to ratify the appointment.
Born in 1974, Schwarz studied musicology in Berlin and Venice, is a graduate student, speaks several languages including an excellent Italian, was an agent, music history teacher and coach in many opera productions. He worked at the Wexford Festival, at the Hamburg State Opera and co-founded the Innsbruck Baskets Competition.
