The Royal Opera House has concluded an investigation on Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo, 42, who allegedly groped a chorus member during the curtain call of a ROH performance of Goundo’s Faust in Tokyo in September 2019. As a conclusion from the investigation, the ROH issued a statement noting “Following an independent investigation into an incident involving Vittorio Grigolo in Tokyo in September, the ROH has concluded that his inappropriate behavior at the curtain call and afterwards fell below the standards we expect of our staff and performers.”
As a result, the ROH has cancelled Grigolo’s performances of Lucia di Lammermoor which were scheduled for 2020. Subsequently he was excluded by the Metropolitan Opera, where he had been scheduled to sing Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata this winter.
