The Academy of Ancient Music (AAM) has appointed principal player Bojan Cicic as Leader of the orchestra. Cicic says: “Over the past five years in which I have worked as a principal player, the orchestra has become very much like a family. I believe we have formed friendships that will last a lifetime. Filling the space left by Pavlo Besnosiuk’s superb leadership will be a significant undertaking, but I look forward to giving my utmost to continue making the best possible music for AAM’s global audience.”
Born in Zagreb in 1979, Bojan Cicic specialises in repertoire ranging from the late 16th century to the Romantic period. He has appeared as director with both AAM and the European Union Baroque Orchestra and been a guest leader and soloist with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Budapest Festival Orchestra. He was recently appointed Professor of Baroque Violin at the Royal College of Music.
