The Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary has announced the Bartok World Competition of Composition. It is open for composers from all over the world, aged 40 or under. It concerns works for solo piano. The award-winning works will be performed at the final Gala Concert on 25 November 2018, and will be part of the repertoire of the next Bartok World Competition for young pianists in 2019. The deadline for submissions is 31 August 2018.

Among the members of the jury are the Grawemeyer Award-winning British composer Thomas Adés, the Israeli-born composer Chaya Chernowin, the Korean-born and Germany-based composer Unsuk Chin and the popular young Russian pianist Andrei Korobeinikov. The Prize Fund of the competition is 10 000 Euros.
