From the 2019/2020 season, Estonian conductor Tonu Kaljuste, 65, will serve as the Artistic Director of the Tallinn Philarmonic Society and, after a pause of 18 years, return as the Principal Conductor of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. He succeeds Risto Joost and will have a tenure of five years.
Kaljuste was the conductor of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra from 1993 to 1995 and from 1996 to 2001, with miscellaneous cooperation projects continuing in subsequent years. Kaljuste was also the founder of the orchestra.
