Born in Vichy in 1950, Guy Touvron studied at the conservatory in Paris with Maurice André from 1967 and was awarded the Premier Prix in cornet one year later, the Premier Prix in trumpet in 1969 and international prizes in Munich, Prague and Geneva from 1971 to 1975.
Since then, Touvron has been a sought-after soloist and has worked with internationally renowned orchestras. More than 25 works have been written for him by contemporary composers. He has made 120 recordings.
Touvron was a professor at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional (CRR) in Paris. Following a complaint from a 25-year-old musician, a preliminary investigation into rape was opened against Guy Touvron in 2021. It appears that this affair has not yet been concluded. Touvron rejected the allegations of rape made against him and resigned as president of the Les Grandes heures de Cluny festival in order to « devote himself to his defense ». The musician had already been convicted in Paris in September 2020 for a sexual assault he had committed on another young woman in 2017.
