At the violin edition of the Prague Spring International Music Competition First prize was awarded to Japanese violinist Tsukushi Sasaki, 23. She also won the Czech Radio Prize, comprising a studio recording and broadcast on Czech Radio, the Prize of the City of Prague, the Bärenreiter Prize, and the Viktor Kalabis and Zuzana Růžičková Prize.
Czech violinist Jan Novák took second prize as well as several special prizes. Marie-Astrid Hulot from France won third prize, while Swiss violinist Ilva Eigus took a laureate title and the jury’s Honorary Mention.
The jury comprised Ida Kavafian (Armenia/US), Hana Kotková (Czech Republic/Switzerland), Sergei Krylov (Italy), Daniel Phillips (US), Liviu Prunaru (Romania/Belgium), Josef Špaček (Czech Republic) and Soyoung Yoon (South Korea).
