The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine will perform in Taiwan for the first time from Sept. 11-13, highlighting musicians and composers from the country, the presenter of the concerts said in a statement released yesterday. The concert has a high symbolic value, since it reunites two countries oppressed resp. aggressed by two other countries.
The orchestra will put on a concert in Taichung, Kaohsiung and Taipei, all conducted by Volodymyr Sirenko. The orchestra will perform works by Ukrainian composers Maxim Berezovsky and Boris Lyatoshynsky, Beethoven, Sibelius,
Chopin, and Liszt.
All three concerts feature Ukrainian pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi, the first prize winner of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2014.
