After the National Philharmonic’s announcement that it would have to close, the leadership launched an online-fundraiser to raise at least $150,000. As of July 30, it has exceeded its goal, and it was announced that the Montgomery based orchestra has been saved.
A local businessman and longtime musician in the orchestra, Jim Kelly, has proposed financial help and new strategies worth $500.000. His conditions include that he has to be appointed interim president of the organization, and that the management has to be changed too.
