Vasily Petrenko

Starting from the season 2016/17, Vasily Petrenko (*1976) will take up the post of Principal Guest conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the so called Evgeny Svetlanov Orchestra. The contract has been signed for two seasons with an option to extend it. The artistic director of the orchestra at the moment is Vladimir Jurowski.
Vasily Petrenko is music director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liverpool and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Principal conductor of the European Union Youth Orchestra and guest conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg.
